Questions about employing in Lebanon

What notice applies in Lebanon?

Notice in Lebanon depends on length of service: one month under three years, two months from three to six years, three months from six to twelve, and four months after twelve. A dismissal found arbitrary carries compensation of two to twelve months' wages, set by the Labour Arbitration Council. During a trial period of up to three months, either side may end the contract without notice.

Can salaries be paid in dollars?
The Labour Code sets wages in the Lebanese pound. The tax law and the NSSF also provide for wages paid wholly or partly in a foreign currency. How pay is handled in Lebanon is set out with your quote.
How is end of service paid?
Through the NSSF's end-of-service branch. Law 319 of 2023 replaces it with a pension, and the branch runs until that law's decrees are issued.
Can we employ a foreign national?
Yes. The Ministry of Labour approves the hire first. General Security then issues the work visa and, after medical tests, residence. The Ministry of Labour issues the work permit, for up to three years at a time. Some professions are reserved for Lebanese nationals.
