Egyptian payroll, line by line

- Progressive income tax

- Social insurance
Scheduled against the contributory wage with the cap and floor handled per employee. Engine reads contract terms and applies the right base.
- EOSB
Calculated on the Labour Law 12/2003 formula. Two-component structure handled — statutory minimum and any contractual top-up.
- Ramadan adjustments
Working-hour reduction during Ramadan handled in cycle. Engine reads the calendar and applies the adjustment without manual configuration.

FAQ
Common questions about Egyptian payroll
How do you handle bracket shifts in Egyptian income tax?
Centrally in the engine. When the regulator moves a bracket — and Egypt has reformed several times in the last decade — the engine updates and every client's next cycle reflects the new schedule. No client-side configuration to maintain.
What's the contributory wage for social insurance?
It's not the same as gross. Caps and floors apply, and the calculation differs by employee category. Engine reads the contract terms and applies the right base per line.
EOSB formula — what does it look like?
Labour Law 12/2003 sets the statutory minimum: a structured calculation tied to monthly salary and years of service. Many employers contract a top-up above the statutory minimum; engine handles both the statutory and contractual components.
Are Ramadan working-hour adjustments automatic?
Yes. Engine reads the calendar and applies the reduced-hour treatment for the Ramadan cycle. Compensation strategy during Ramadan is your call; the engine reflects whatever you've contracted.
Is the 13th-month bonus mandatory?
Customary, not mandatory. If your contracts include a 13th-month, the engine accrues it through the year and pays it at the agreed timing. If not, there's no automatic accrual.
Can I run Egyptian payroll in EGP only, or also in foreign currency?
Statutory submissions and bank file go in Egyptian Pounds. If you contract employees in USD or another currency, the engine handles the conversion at the agreed FX rate for the cycle but reports gross-to-net in EGP for compliance purposes.
